Team Aaron's Playground walks for the March of Dimes
Aaron's Playground supporters, donning their orange t-shirts, took part in the March of Dimes charity walk this past Saturday at the Mall of America. The March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies. The organization was founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938 to combat polio. In 2005, as preterm birth emerged as the leading cause of death for children worldwide, research and prevention of premature birth became the organization's primary focus.
The team, totaling 10 supporters of Aaron's Playground, managed to raise $588 for the non-profit to support the health of babies everywhere, even in the midst of fundraising for our playground. This fundraising total put the team in the top 10 of new teams to walk in the March for Babies!
Also exciting was the opportunity to meet Fox 9's Timothy Blotz, who shared our story while on stage twice during the opening and closing ceremonies. In all, the Minnesota March of Dimes raised $400,000 this year!
We are so grateful for our supporters, not only in the quest to build a memorial to our dear son Aaron, but also to support premature babies everywhere!
